YOUTH DEARTMENT

PONGDENRO

EXPERIENCE GOD

The Kohima Lotha Baptist Church (KLBC) Youth Department was established on March 15, 1972 under the name Baptist Pongdenro Khumshum (BPK).

In 1981, Rev. L. Tsanso was appointed as the first Youth Director, marking the beginning of an organized youth ministry. At that time, with the growing number of youths, the department divided its ministry into six territorial zones: Love, Hope, Joy, Faith, Peace, and Steward. Over the years, these were streamlined into five zones: Liberation, Victory, Freedom, Power, and Peace. Today, the department has expanded to eight zones—Peace, Koinonia, Power, Freedom, Victory, Liberation, Grace, and Faith—covering the entire geographical region of Kohima town.

The department has witnessed God’s gracious leading over the decades, celebrating its 25th year in 1997 and 50th year in 2022 as milestones of God’s faithfulness and guidance.

In 2011, Youth Evangelists were inducted to strengthen evangelism within the zones. At present, the department functions under the leadership of a Youth Director, Associate Youth Director, four Youth Evangelists, five Youth Executives, and around 70 Zonal Youth Office Bearers. Youth services are conducted as follows:

1st, 3rd, and 5th Sundays – Zonal Services

2nd and 4th Saturdays – Combined Services

In addition to regular services, the Youth Department undertakes a wide range of initiatives such as Youth Revival, Youth Conference, Youth Camp, Cross-Teen Club, Youth Literary Day, Youth Sports Evangelism, Mission Trips, Seminars, and Outreach programs, providing platforms for spiritual growth, fellowship, and holistic development of young people.

The department also nurtures a vibrant Praise & Worship team, central to leading the congregation in spirit-filled worship. In addition, a nascent Media Team has been initiated to cater to ministry in this digital age.

YOUTH CENTRE

The Youth Centre aims to empower young people to reach their full potential by providing a safe, inclusive, and supportive environment that develop Spiritual growth, skill development and community engagement. Many young people lack access to a healthy and vibrant environment that cultivates spiritual growth, hindering their opportunity to nurture their relationship with the Lord. The Ministerial Staff and the Directors of the Youth Department of the Kohima Lotha Baptist Church Prayerfully Visualized, Formulated and Constructed a Recreational Centre within the church compound for the young Christians to experience a safe church setup where they could spend their time together to cultivate godly friendships, to develop a sense of belongingness to the local church, to nurture Spiritual health, and empower young people to become passionate followers of Jesus Christ.

YOUTH CENTRE FEATURES

The Youth Ministry Center provides a welcoming space with a lounge, game zone, and kitchen, fostering fellowship, recreation, and spiritual growth. It offers programs, counseling, and community service opportunities while nurturing godly friendships. Through leadership training, group gatherings, worship nights, and Bible studies, it builds connection, creativity, and faith among young people.

CROSS TEEN CLUB

The Cross Teen Club is a special fellowship under the Youth Department of Kohima Lotha Baptist Church, created for teens who have outgrown Sunday School but are not yet part of the Youth Fellowship. It provides a space where young hearts can gather to learn, grow, and build friendships rooted in Christ. Through periodic meetings, teens are encouraged to discover their identity in God, strengthen their faith, and prepare for the next stage of their spiritual journey. The Cross Teen Club is more than just a gathering—it is a community where teens are nurtured to stand firm at the Cross and live out their faith with joy and purpose.

SPORTS MINISTRY

The Youth Department of Kohima Lotha Baptist Church organizes Sports Ministry Week once a year to minister to young people through sports. This annual event promotes fellowship, teamwork, and healthy competition while providing an opportunity to share God’s love, strengthen faith, and build a Christ-centered youth community.
